Aapa’s Modest Wear was created in loving memory of our wonderful mother who is sadly no longer with us.
In Urdu, the term ‘Aapa’ is used to address a female who is older than you, like a ‘big sister’, and is used to show respect and endearment towards that person.
Our mother was a wonderfully warm and caring lady who selflessly forewent any higher education or career in order to dedicate her life to us, her children. She led an authentic life, had a humble nature and a delicate voice, and was well respected within our local community. Indeed, she made many friends very easily and had a positive impact on everyone around her, with most people referring to her as ‘Aapa’, including her children!
Our mother passed away in December 2018 and the pain of this loss has been felt by all who knew her. As her children, we have lost our guiding star, our helping hand, our shoulder to cry on, and our lives will never be the same. For these reasons, we wanted to do something to honour our mother, our ‘Aapa’.
Over the last year, we have been working hard to create the Aapa’s Modest Wear range as a tribute to our mother. The brand reflects her warm and caring nature, with the designs, colours and materials carefully selected to reflect her elegance and endearing yet modest charm. We hope you love the range as much as we do.
And finally, a message to our mother….
Aapa – although you are no longer with us, your achievements still shine in this World. The family you created lives on, the lessons you taught us continue to guide us. You will live on forever in our hearts and minds. We think of you in all that we do and strive to always make you proud.
